A and B had a dream. It was a good dream, a meaningful dream, one that would impact people’s lives, one that would change a small corner of our world for the better.
They nurtured their dream. They loved their dream. The song of their dream played in their hearts; its golden thread weaving its way into the fabric of their lives. Their dream was a living breathing thing – lighting up their lives, bringing hope and passion to every waking moment.
One day, the dream had grown so big that A and B knew it was time to give it form.
People loved their dream.
People wanted their dream.
People needed their dream.
A and B knew their dream would work. So they worked. Hard. Their days became a blur ~ early mornings ~ late nights ~ “You can sleep when you’re dead – right!”.
Every day working. Working to grow the dream. Working to feed the dream. The harder they worked the more ravenous the dream became. Always there. Always wanting and needing them.
It was all worth it - They saw their dream start to grow and flourish.
They would have been happy - If they’d had the time.
They would have celebrated with everyone who loved their dream – If they’d had the energy.
One day, dawn broke their dream. A & B woke and realised they no longer loved their dream. Their dream didn’t look quite right, wasn’t quite how they had imagined. They no longer saw its beauty, all they could see were its blemishes.
But surely that was just because they were so tired. Their dream was good, their dream was meaningful, their dream would impact lives and change their small corner of the world for the better.
So they carried on. But now the early mornings hit them like a freight train. The late nights burned.
If only they had more time. If only the dream would fly and start lifting them with it.
They could see what should be done. They knew why people started to lose interest in their dream. It was all crystal clear. But they were powerless to act. Too tired, hopelessness starting to fill their days. But the dream kept wanting more - always ravenous.
Then one day, quite suddenly, the dream died.
A & B didn’t mourn. They didn’t love their dream any more. They had started to dream new dreams.
